Paper Sewing and Threading the Machine - March 10th

September 25th Today we are working on the paper sewing practice. You have now seen the demo on how to put the thread on bobbins. Today you should finish your paper sewing, put thread on two bobbins and then thread the machine properly. Use your small piece of fabric to test the threading!

FABRIC due by FEB 18th

To get ready for your first project you will need to buy some fabric. PLEASE HAVE THE FABRIC at PW for February 18th, WHAT DO YOU NEED? 1 metre  of  100% cotton fabric . Types of appropriate fabric  light weight cotton, twill, lightweight denim or light canvas WHERE? Your family might already have a metre of fabric and you will not need to buy any, b ut you can purchase fabric at any of these stores.  They are listed here in alphabetical order. Welcome to Grade 8 at Prince of Wales Secondary School In this course you will get to explore both Textiles and Food Studies. Your first assignment is to complete your Student Profile, Food Allergies sheet and have it signed by your parent or guardian. Please bring it to class on Wednesday, January 29th

October 18 Apron hem

You should have your apron cut out by the end of this class and have started on the bottom hem. Don't forget to get each section marked.

Apron Pattern Layout

You have now seen the apron pattern and the layout that you must have for your fabric. Steps 1) Straighten the raw edges 2) Fold the fabric over so that it is a little bit wider than the apron pattern piece. 3) Check the width with a tape measure. 4) Put the pattern piece along the fold. 5) Pin the pattern piece to the fabric 6) HAVE MS. MOON check the layout! Once it has checked then... 7) You may cut your fabric. This step should be completed during class on October 16th. If you have forgotten to buy fabric you must see Ms. Moon.
