September 25th Today we are working on the paper sewing practice. You have now seen the demo on how to put the thread on bobbins. Today you should finish your paper sewing, put thread on two bobbins and then thread the machine properly. Use your small piece of fabric to test the threading!

Today we learned how to put thread on the bobbin and then thread the upper and lower parts of the sewing machine. Due on Wednesday will be the paper sewing assignments- 1) paper sewing mountains and waves 2) The threaded paper assignment If you want to re-write the sewing machine parts quiz come to Tutorial Time sometime this week.

Buying your fabric and wash it by OCTOBER 3rd

To get ready for your first project you will need to buy some fabric WHAT DO YOU NEED? 1 metre of 100% cotton fabric . Types of appropriate fabric light weight cotton, twill, lightweight denim or light canvas WHERE? Your family might already have a metre of fabric and you will not need to buy any, but you can purchase fabric at any of these stores. They are listed here in alphabetical order. The Cloth Shop   On Granville Island Dressew 337 West Hastings, Vancouver Fabricland 1678 SE Marine Drive,Vancouver (just East of the Knight Street bridge) Michaels (New at all the locations) the three closest stores to PW 665 West Broadway, Vancouver, 1022 Alberni Street, Vancouver 9711 Bridgeport, Richmond Rokko’s 6201 Fraser Street, Vancouver Spool of Thread 649 East 15 th Ave., Vancouver (near Kingsway and Fraser Street) Walmart (only a larger stores) and ON-LINE There will also be limited fabric available for purchase at PW for $10.  Check with your teacher.
